Chloé Bell, Actor & Model

Notes on Theatre and Style

I really wish to get theatre to more people! There are so many out there who have never seen a play and I think there is so much magic and so much to learn in live theatre especially!

Hi! I’m Chloé Bell, a 23 year old Louisville, Kentucky native currently living in Minneapolis, MN! I graduated from the University of MN/Guthrie Acting Program last year where I received my BFA. I am a lover of fashion, film photography and iced coffee in any weather.

What is your biggest talent?
Aside from acting, I think organization and time management! I’ve joked with a lot of people that my side job should just be helping to schedule people’s lives. That would be amazing honestly. I get excited whenever I get to buy a new planner!

How do you incorporate your talent for work?
Being on top of my schedule and planning is so key for the world of acting! Some shows give you a schedule well in advance but there are also some where you don’t know when you’re called in until just hours prior!

How did you start your acting career?

I started acting in middle school (kind of late compared to a lot of people)! I was going to the movies with my family and there was a booth set up for a talent agency in town. My mom suggested I sign up as the classes could help me get out of my comfort zone and help me with my shyness. She was not wrong in the slightest! As soon as I started the acting classes, I was hooked and I ended up applying to go to the performing arts high school in town. I got in, did my first play my freshman year and knew it was the path I wanted to keep on. It’s truly been such a strong force in my life and I’m so thankful for it.

What do you like the most about your career?
I love that it can take me to amazing places and allows me to meet so many people! I’ve performed a bunch in Minneapolis now but also in Maine and New York! I get to constantly learn from those I’m creating with and every day looks a little different in my ordinary life/work!

What was your childhood dream?
My childhood dream for the longest time was to play sports and become a pastry chef! I loved baking and still do but that’s definitely more of a hobby now haha.

What are your goals?
I really wish to get theatre to more people! There are so many out there who have never seen a play and I think there is so much magic and so much to learn in live theatre especially! It creates community. I was asked recently if I thought live theatre was an art form that would eventually end but I don’t think it will. I will for sure be an advocate for keeping it alive and thriving!

How would you describe your style?
I think my style is really focused on a great base with statement pieces! I love clothing that is for everyday kind of wear. Warm and neutral tones are my usual go to but I’m loving lavender right now! Add some bold accessories (earrings, rings, necklaces, maybe a neck tie) and I feel so confident!

What do you usually wear at work? On weekends?
When I’m not at rehearsal (movement clothes are a must), I’m working in a local boutique in Minneapolis so I have some freedom with what I wear, which is great! My weekend and work looks end up being pretty similar. A dress or jeans and a tee with my (faux) leather jacket or blazer is a staple as well as a cozy turtleneck and jeans or flare leg pants (a favorite) when the winter hits.

What is your favorite fashion trend right now?
Maxi skirts paired with sneakers! And the fanny pack. I just got one from Baggu and I can’t wait to style it.

What is your most recent fashion purchase?
Accessories mostly! The Twisted Dash ring from Shop Soko and I bought some tortoise print barrettes that I’m loving.

Do you have a style icon?
Alicia Vikander, @alexachung, and @allegrashaw! Coincidentally all A names.

How do you organize your closet?
My basics are always within reach. Jeans are on the main shelf with tops and sweaters hanging below! I try to organize based on warmth level so tanks/short sleeve tees/long sleeve tees/sweaters/etc.

What is one fashion trend prediction that you foresee for 2019?
I think monochrome looks are making a come back but I have a feeling they’ll gain even more support this year! I’m all about an all white/cream look!
